Monthly Required UST/AST Inspections

Heavily used equipment is prone to degradation, damage, or malfunction. By conducting a monthly inspection of underground storage tanks and above ground tanks small problems may be discovered before they turn into big ones.

Furthermore, beginning on October 13, 2018, owners (both A & B operators) were required by the EPA to conduct monthly documented inspections at all underground storage tank facilities.

AST tanks are mandated to have SPCC plans in place to include monthly inspection and walk throughs.

The walk-through covers three principle areas at an UST/AST site—tank pad area, voltage rectifier, and tank gauge and/or release detection equipment.
